Cynthia Luján is a muralist + teaching artist who lives in an Unincorporated City of Los Angeles County, has a studio located in Long Beach at Open Gallery LB. She is a CSULB alumni with extensive project history working regionally in Southern California with collaborating community leaders and governing agencies.
Luján’s immediate goal is to secure grants and fellowships to further research her research on urbanites in shared public spaces. Lujan’s current focus is on regional mural projects, participatory workshops, and artist residencies to collaborate with other artists and community members in creating hyperlocal community projects.
She previously served as an Advisory Council member for Santa Ana Active Streets and when time allows joins TWIG+ community bike rides out of the Bicycle Tree in Santa Ana, CA. Luján previously interned, coordinated, managed, and directed Public Art Projects from June 2015-August 2024 at Arts Council for Long Beach; most notably she directed and coordinated outreach, community surveying, artist call for art, and led artists in installing their 4 respective asphalt art mural installations. This project and these community-centered efforts were recognized by the American Planning Association - Los Angeles Chapter’s Grassroots Initiative Award for 2024.
